Russia 4–12mm Reinforcing Mesh Welding Machine Project for Construction Mesh Production

A Russian customer recently selected an RKM 4–12mm reinforcing mesh welding machine to establish an automated production line for construction reinforcement mesh.
The customer mainly produces welded construction mesh using 4–12mm smooth round steel bars, with a standard mesh opening of 100 × 100mm. Their original plan was to invest in a fully automatic production line, including automatic welding, mesh dropping, sheet turning and conveying systems.
However, because the initial investment budget was limited, the customer needed a solution that could provide a high level of automation without exceeding the planned equipment cost.
After evaluating the required mesh specifications, production process and available budget, RKM engineers designed a customized reinforcing mesh production line that retained the essential automation modules while allowing the optional sheet turning system to be added in the future.
Customer Requirements for Reinforcing Mesh Production
The Russian customer required a production line capable of processing different diameters of smooth round steel bars for construction reinforcement mesh.
| Project | Customer Requirement |
|---|---|
| Country | Russia |
| Application | Construction reinforcing mesh |
| Raw Material | Smooth round steel bar |
| Wire Diameter | 4–12mm |
| Mesh Opening | 100 × 100mm |
| Production Type | Welded reinforcing mesh panels |
| Automation Requirement | Automatic welding, mesh dropping and conveying |
| Future Upgrade | Automatic sheet turning system |
The Challenge: Balancing Automation and Investment Budget
The customer initially planned to purchase a fully automatic reinforcing mesh welding line. A complete high-automation line can integrate multiple processes, including automatic wire feeding, resistance welding, mesh pulling, mesh dropping, sheet turning, stacking and conveying.
For the customer’s current production requirements, however, purchasing every automation module at the initial stage would have increased the investment beyond the available budget.
Instead of simply reducing the machine specification, RKM engineers analyzed which automation modules were essential for the customer’s current production and which modules could be added later.
This approach allowed the customer to maintain the required 4–12mm welding capacity and 100 × 100mm mesh production capability while controlling the initial investment.
RKM Customized 4–12mm Reinforcing Mesh Welding Solution
Based on the customer’s production requirements, RKM recommended a modular reinforcing mesh welding line centered around the 4–12mm automatic welding system.
The final production line includes:
- 4–12mm automatic reinforcing mesh welding system
- Automatic mesh pulling and production control system
- Automatic mesh dropping system
- Automatic mesh conveying system
- PLC and servo control system
The automatic sheet turning system was temporarily excluded from the initial configuration to keep the investment within budget.
Because RKM reinforcing mesh production lines use a modular automation concept, additional automation modules can be considered when the customer’s production capacity and business requirements increase.
Why Was the Automatic Sheet Turning System Postponed?
For heavy reinforcing mesh production, a sheet turning system can improve downstream handling and help organize finished mesh panels, particularly when producing large quantities of heavy steel reinforcement mesh.
However, it is not necessary for every factory to install the highest automation level from the first day of production.
For this Russian project, the customer’s priority was to automate the core processes that directly affect welding efficiency and material handling. Therefore, the available budget was first allocated to the welding, automatic mesh dropping and conveying systems.
The sheet turning module can be considered as a future upgrade when production volume increases.
How the Reinforcing Mesh Production Line Works
The production process is designed to reduce manual handling while maintaining stable welding accuracy.
- Pre-cut longitudinal and cross steel bars are prepared according to the required mesh dimensions.
- The longitudinal bars are positioned and fed into the welding section.
- The cross bars are automatically supplied according to the programmed spacing.
- The welding system simultaneously welds the steel bars at the intersections.
- The servo-controlled mesh pulling system advances the welded mesh by the programmed distance.
- The process repeats to produce a consistent 100 × 100mm mesh opening.
- After the panel is completed, the automatic mesh dropping system receives the finished reinforcing mesh.
- The conveying system transfers the finished mesh for subsequent collection and handling.
The automated workflow reduces unnecessary manual intervention and provides a practical balance between production efficiency and investment cost.
4–12mm Reinforcing Mesh Welding Machine for Different Production Requirements
The core welding equipment selected for this project is designed for heavy construction reinforcement mesh production. RKM reinforcing mesh welding machines can be configured according to wire diameter, mesh spacing, mesh width, panel length, raw material and required production capacity.
For manufacturers planning to produce construction reinforcement mesh, selecting the correct machine should not depend only on the maximum wire diameter. Welding power, number of welding points, mesh width, wire feeding method, production capacity and downstream automation also need to be considered.

Modular Automation Helps Control Initial Investment
One of the key advantages of this Russian project is that the production line was not configured simply according to the highest possible automation level.
Instead, RKM designed the line according to the customer’s actual production requirements and investment plan.
For manufacturers entering the reinforcing mesh business or expanding an existing factory, a modular production line can provide several advantages:
- Lower initial equipment investment
- Automation focused on the most important production processes
- Reduced manual handling of finished mesh
- Flexible configuration according to factory requirements
- Possibility of adding additional automation modules as production grows
This means customers do not necessarily need to purchase every optional automation system at the beginning of a project.
Why the Russian Customer Chose RKM
The customer was not simply looking for a standard welding machine. They needed a production solution that could meet the required mesh specifications while remaining within the available investment budget.
RKM engineers evaluated the customer’s 4–12mm wire diameter, 100 × 100mm mesh specification, construction mesh application and automation requirements before determining the final configuration.
By temporarily removing the sheet turning module while retaining automatic welding, mesh dropping and conveying, the customer was able to invest in the most important production equipment first without sacrificing the core welding capability.
This project demonstrates RKM’s approach to customized machinery: the objective is not simply to recommend the highest level of automation, but to design a production line that matches the customer’s real manufacturing requirements, budget and future expansion plan.
Planning a Reinforcing Mesh Production Line?
Different reinforcing mesh manufacturers require different machine configurations. Before RKM engineers recommend a production line, we normally need to understand the customer’s finished mesh specifications and target production capacity.
For a faster technical proposal, please provide:
- Steel bar or wire diameter
- Raw material type: smooth or ribbed steel bar
- Longitudinal wire spacing
- Cross-wire spacing
- Maximum mesh width
- Mesh panel length
- Required production capacity
- Required automation level
RKM can then configure a suitable reinforcing mesh welding production line according to your production requirements and investment budget.
